Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the Prime Minister's Office in South Block on Monday morning after taking oath for the third consecutive time. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet ministers were distributed their portfolios on Monday evening. There have been no changes in the portfolios of many old ministers. But do you know which ministries Prime Minister Narendra Modi got during this tenure?


President Draupadi Murmu allots departments (ministries) to government ministers on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took over the Ministry of Employees Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Aerospace and all important policy matters and all other departments which are not allocated to any minister. Amit Shah has been re-appointed as the Union Home and Cooperation Minister while Rajnath Singh has been re-appointed as the Defense Minister.

Nitin Gadkari has also been appointed as Road Transport and Highways Minister. Subramanian Swamy has been appointed External Affairs Minister and Nirmala Sitharaman as Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister. Most of the old offices of government ministers have been retained. As for the other ministers in the government, BJP national president JP Nadda has been given key portfolios like health and family welfare and chemicals and fertilisers, Shivraj Singh Chouhan the ministry of agriculture and farmers welfare and rural development. Ashwini Vaishnav has been appointed as the Minister of Railways and Electronics and Information Technology as well as Information and Broadcasting.


Sarbananda Sonowal of Assam was given the responsibility of Union Minister of Water Transport and Shipping as before. Shantanu Tagore was also given the portfolio of Minister of State for Water Transport and Shipping. Kiren Rijiju was given the portfolio of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Minister. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was given the portfolio of Union Minister for Culture and Tourism. Suresh Gopi and Indrajit Singh were also given the portfolios of Ministers of State for Culture and Tourism. Piyush Goyal was given the portfolio of Commerce Minister. Prahlad Joshi was given the responsibility of Consumer Affairs Minister. Annapurna Devi was given the responsibility of Union Minister for Women and Child Welfare.

Chirag Paswan was given the responsibility of the Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries. HD Kumaraswamy was given the portfolio of Master Industries and Steel. Jyotiraditya Scindia was given the portfolio of Telecom and North East Development Minister. Mansukh Mandavya was given the portfolio of Labor and Employment and Youth Affairs and Sports. Bhupendra Yadav was given the responsibility of Union Forest and Environment Minister. Ravneet  Singh Bittu was given the portfolio of Minority Affairs Minister. Hardeep Singh Puri was given the portfolio of Petroleum Minister. CR Patil was given the responsibility of Union Water Resources Minister. Ram Mohan Naidu was given the responsibility of Union Civil Aviation Minister.
