The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting  has taken decive action against 18 top OTT platforms publishing obscene, vulgar and some hineous content have been blocked, 19 websites, 10 apps, 57 social media handles nationwide, the goverenment said on Thursday.


The content said to be violation of IT Act, India Penal Code (IPC),and Indecent representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.


Union Minister Anurag Thakur, I&B released stated that repeatedly emphaized the responsibility of the platforms to not propagate obsencity, vulgarity and abuse of "creative expression" the goverenment said in the press release.

The Ministry determined that this content violeted Section 67 and 67A of the IT Act, Section 292 of the IPC and Section 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) ACT 1986.
