Cotton University launches Coaching Programme for Civil Service Examinations

The Capacity Building Centre (CBC), Cotton University in collaboration with Civil Services Achievers’ Point (CSAP), Guwahati launched a coaching programme for civil service aspirants here today. Dr. Sangeeta Barthakur, Director, CBC in her welcome address underlined that 80 students from across different educational institutions including Cotton University have registered for the programme. She set the tone of the event by stressing that students from Assam are no way less than students from other parts of the country and that only rigorous coaching and need-based orientation can lead students towards success in competitive exams.

Prof. Bhabesh Chandra Goswami, Vice Chancellor (VC), Cotton University said, “It is important for aspirants to be selective while collecting information. They need to stay away from petty negative news and rather follow debates and talk shows on issues of greater relevance. They should regularly read newspapers for competitive exams.” The two guest speakers for the inaugural event, Subhash Chandra Das, IAS, presently the VC of Assam Skill University, and Diganta Barah, IPS, Secretary to the Government of Assam, Home and Political departments stressed on appropriate guidance and perseverance as the key to clearing competitive exams. During his address, Das highlighted that his genuine interest and constant determination had ultimately led him to clearing civil service in his third attempt. Barah again underlined the importance of subject selection as one of the factors that aspirants need to keep in mind while attempting the civil service examinations. He further highlighted that vernacular medium students should never feel any inferiority complex while preparing and sitting for the examinations. He added that location and language does not matter much compared to genuine interest and intention of the aspirants to clear the competitive exams. 

Also present in the event was Rajdeep Lekharu, founder Director and chief mentor, CSAP who drew an outline of the coaching programme. Other presentees included Academic Registrar, the Dean, Students’ Welfare and faculty members of Cotton University. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Ruma Talukdar, Associate Professor and coordinator of the coaching programme. The event was moderated by Dr Sayanika Dutta, Assistant Professor, Cotton University.
