Police have arrested a youth named Sudhir Sutradhar from Barovisa outpost in Alipurduar district for allegedly hacking news channels of several entertainment and reputed companies including Star India Private Limited and Pakistani channel.
The detained youth is learnt to have hacked multiple channels internationally. The youth's house is in the Seltex area of the district.
The incident created a sensation in the area. An official of Star India Private Limited claimed that after conducting an investigation into the hacking of multiple channels of Star India Private Limited for nearly two months, it illegally created an app and hacked news channels of Star India Private Limited, Pakistan and some reputed companies.
A youth living in the Assam Bengal border area was illegally running the app for a price of Rs 25 from customers along with hacking of quality video quality. As a result companies face financial losses.
The Alipurduwar district superintendent of police told reporters that police arrested a 20-year-old man named Sudhir Sutradhar from Barovisa area on Monday night on the basis of a complaint filed by Star India Private Limited. Arrests have been made under multiple sections of the IPC for illegally hacking various channels.
