The Uttarakhand government has revoked the licenses of 14 Patanjali products. Not only that, criminal charges have been filed against two key figures of Patanjali, Ramdev and Acharya Balakrishnan. 13 of the 14 canceled products,
Patanjali and Ramdev, the manufacturers of Ayurvedic products, are in trouble. The Uttarakhand government recently revoked the licenses of 14 Patanjali products. Not only that, criminal charges have been filed against two key figures of Patanjali, Ramdev and Acharya Balakrishnan.
The 14 cancelled products, 13 belong to Patanjali's Divya Yoga Pharmacy.
The discontinued products include Drishti Eye Drops, Dashari Gold, Dashari Bhati, Divya Brunkam, Dashari Pravi, Dashari Awleh, Mukta Bhati Extra Power, Lipidom, BP Grit, Madhugrit, Madhunashini Bhati Extra Power, Livamroot Advance and Livgrit Gold. The Uttarakhand Licensing Authority has also filed a criminal complaint against Patanjali for allegedly violating the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act for misleading advertisements.
Patanjali's two main figures, Baba Ramdev and Balakrishna, have already come under pressure for misleading advertisements. There is a case pending in the Supreme Court where Patanjali has been repeatedly reprimanded, Ramdev and Balakrishna have not been spared despite their unconditional apology to the court. On April 24, Ramdev and Balakrishnan issued an advertisement in newspapers apologizing to the public. Not only that, the Uttarakhand licensing authority was also criticized in the court. The Uttarakhand government's move put further pressure on Patanjali.
