Torrential rain in the city of Pekalongan in Central Java province caused a landslide on Tuesday and heacy rain and fog were hinderinf rescue efforts.
National Disaster management Agency spokesperson Abdul Muhari said flooding triggered a landslide that buried two houses in Pekalongan regency. The disaster also destroyed two main bridges connecting villages in Pekalongan district.
Muhari said atleast 17 people were d*ad, nine were mi**ing and 13 injured by Wednesday, nearly 300 people were forced to flee to temporary government shelters.
