Lurinjyoti Gogoi, president of the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), has said the party is aiming to win more than 20 seats in Upper Assam in the upcoming 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly election.
He stated that Upper Assam will be the party’s main focus, with campaigns centred on issues such as indigenous identity, the Assam Accord, and illegal immigration. Gogoi also positioned the AJP as a regional alternative to national parties.
The party has begun strengthening its organisation and finalising candidates as election preparations gather pace.
