The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday announced its second list of candidates for the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections 2026, naming six nominees for constituencies across the state.
The party has fielded Ballav Patra from Dispur, Pranab Priyangshu Dutta from Jorhat, Ranu Mai Teronpi from Barhampur, Biresh Difoesa from Diphu, Saynul Haque from North Karimganj, and Elvin Baruah from Palashbari.
With this announcement, AAP has now declared a total of 20 candidates so far, following the release of its first list earlier. The party is aiming to expand its political footprint in Assam by contesting independently and positioning itself as an alternative to established parties.
The inclusion of candidates from diverse regions, including Upper Assam, Central Assam, and hill districts like Diphu, indicates AAP’s attempt to build a broad-based presence across the state. The Dispur constituency, which houses the state’s administrative capital, is expected to be one of the key battlegrounds in the upcoming polls.
The 2026 Assam Assembly elections are likely to witness a multi-cornered contest, with national and regional parties intensifying their campaigns in the run-up to the polls.
