Leadership Lauded: Assam CM Receives Prestigious SIES National Eminence Award

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was conferred the prestigious SIES Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati National Eminence Award for Public Leadership at a ceremony held in Mumbai, recognising his contributions to public service and leadership.

The award was presented during the annual Kanchi Mahaswami festival, organised by the South Indian Education Society (SIES), at Shanmukhananda Hall. Instituted in memory of Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi, the 68th Sankaracharya of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, the award honours individuals who have made significant contributions in the fields of leadership, social service and nation-building.

Accepting the honour, Sarma spoke about India’s civilisational values and spiritual heritage, describing Sanatana Dharma as an enduring philosophy that continues to guide the country’s social and cultural fabric. He emphasised the need to balance tradition with modern governance while working towards inclusive development.

The award carries a cash prize of ₹2.5 lakh along with a citation, shawl and memento. Several other eminent personalities were also honoured at the event for their contributions in diverse fields, including science, social service and community leadership.

The recognition adds to a series of national-level honours received by the Assam Chief Minister and highlights his growing prominence on the national stage beyond the state’s political landscape.
